Helpful language from my trusted colleague and friend Korrine Wojcik:
If you do not have access to mental health crisis support and are experiencing a life-threatening medical or psychiatric emergency, you should go to a local hospital emergency room or call 911 immediately.
Please be aware that experiencing hospitalization or police involvement can be traumatic and potentially unsafe for individuals with marginalized identities. There are community-based alternatives to calling the police or 911. Check out Don’t Call The Police to learn more about resources available in your area.
